My Little Intro !!!

Hi there!!! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jotham Penalosa. I am 19 years old.

I am a first-year student at TUD (Technological University of Dublin) and I am studying Creative Digital Media. So far, I am enjoying the course a lot.

Now let me tell you more about myself. Let's start off with my hobbies, simple but can tell a lot about a person. I enjoy listening to music a lot, not any particular genre. It just depends on my mood.

Going on adventures with friends is probably my favorite hobby. I do enjoy nights out but i prefer to go out and explore and find a place to just relax and talk about everything.

I'm not really an athletic person and I don't take much interest in sports too, but I do go to the gym just to balance out all the unhealthy food and drinks I consume.

Haven't really had a favorite film until Joker had come out to the cinema. I particularly enjoyed this film because how it tackled the problem society impacts on some people and how unfair the world really is.

So now let's talk about food. It's hard to pick a favorite especially when it comes down to food but if I had to pick one, I would have to say pizza. I mean the combination of toppings is endless. From your plain cheesy margarita to something bizarre like tuna, egg and pineapple (not that I have tried that).

There isn’t much left about me to discuss. So, I guess this blogs purpose is to show you guys my daily go about in life as a student in hopes that you and everybody else who follow the blog can relate and enjoy another student’s journey in college and daily lifestyle.

Enjoy.

First Mission - Art of the Animated GIF

~Reflection Pt.2~

I think all three of us have learned a lot more than we think we would from the mission "Art of the Animated GIF". Getting know and learn the different types of GIFs available to us allowed us to understand the meaning and processes it took to make the GIF. Not only did this project teach us the Background of GIF but also allowed us to actually learn to create a few of our own.

whilst working on this project i have come to realise how very little knowledge i know about GIF even though i use it on a regular basis. What i discovered about our mission is that we all enjoyed the making of the GIFs and the Presentation and the whole experience of group work around the mission we have tackled. This probably because we all use GIFs. Team work through out this project was great, we made sure each of us were up to date and had our ideas in production and helped each other with ideas. With communication and team work we were able to complete the project with no difficulty or drawbacks.

The presentation was very successful, safe to say. Every thing that we had planned played out smoothly. we were able to focus our knowledge to our audience as we made sure all the information was coming from our mouths rather than the PowerPoint. The GIFs were exactly as we hoped it to be.

Knowing that we have put in a good amount of time and effort into creating the GIF's and constructing the presentation, we feel a lot more comfortable presenting our work as group.

The experience I got with the make of this project was quite enjoyable. I enjoyed working with my group and how we all helped each other with ideas. I found it great how we all had come up with great ideas and how we were able to turn them into something we are able to present to others.

First Mission - Art of the Animated GIF

~Reflection Pt.1~

I have to say we were all happy of the results of our overall work and presentation. The presentation went accordingly as planned. I think the idea of having small point for each of the slide allowed us to provide the audience with knowledge we had learned and also allowed us to see our selves how much information we had taken in through research. Overall, I think that our mission was a success. We were all satisfied with the work we put in to the mission but also we think that there will be plenty more room for improvements and ideas in our future missions.

First Mission - Art of the Animated GIF

~Product~

There were a total of 6 task in this mission so we evenly split the task between the three of us. The task I am assigned to is to make a simple, 12-frame animation and an animated GIF from a video clip. The idea I had in mind for the 12-frame animation is an sheet of paper that is crumpling up in to a ball by itself. The making of this GIF wasn't particularly difficult at all.

So what is a 12-frame animation? It's basically an animation that consists of twelve images that correspond with one another to create a one second clip. The way I made this GIF started with a flat clean piece of paper laid flat on the table. To create self-crumpling effect i took twelve different pictures using my phone. In the first photo was the sheet laying flat and untouched the second image was after i have slightly crumpled the paper. I repeated these steps till i got the twelve photos I needed. The last photo was the sheet of paper crumpled in to a ball. Without my hand in any of the twelve photos allowed it to have the self-crumpling effect. I then inserted the twelve photos in "GIPHY" and using the GIF maker I place the photos in order and reduced the clip time to one second.

The second GIF is the animated GIF from a video clip. The making of this GIF was very simple. The only thing needed to make this GIF is a one to three second clip from a movie, cartoon or T.V. show and maybe from any genre, and secondly, not necessary, a caption or tag.

The creation of our presentation was probably the most difficult only because we wanted it to look very aesthetic , have as very little text as possible and also who was going to present first. The overall look and layout of the presentation we exactly as planned. We were able to present each others work clearly and also the order of our own slides were laid out in order to allow us to gather the knowledge before presenting after one of us speaks.

First Mission - Art of the Animated GIF

~Process~

The task my group and I have chose is the Art of the Animated GIF. No special reason as to why we have chosen that topic only for the fact that it is the most convenient out of the other topics available and without a doubt GIFs has become very popular over time. Our goal for this particular mission is to learn the background and process of making a GIF.  We are hoping that at the end of this mission that the three of us are able to turn the knowledge that we will acquire in to a presentation that our other colleagues can learn from. Our group is required to complete some task such as, make a 12-frame animation, a perfectly looping animated GIF, a GIF with a meaning behind it, and others.

The tool/app we are going to use is called "GIPHY". "GIPHY" is an app that contains possibly all the GIFs ever created, but whats great about "GIPHY" is that not only is it an app that stores our GIFs but also allow us to create or design our own GIF. Comparing it to the other tool/apps to create GIFs, "GIPHY" was not only simple and easy to use it was also FREEEEEE, perfect for us broke college students, but honestly though would you pay for an app that its only purpose is to make GIFs? No? Same.

From past presentations we have all agreed that the presentation must contain only a few words or sentences. This so that we have fully interaction with the audience and also allow us to prevent the audience from reading whats in front. This plan will not only have the full attention of our colleagues during the presentation but also in hopes that the take in more information when we deliver most of the presentation through what we know rather than reading the screen.
